Death and the Maiden Overview: "Pulitzer Prize winning moral thriller." Join us for the intimate and intense story of a woman who believes that the stranger who has unexpectedly arrived at her home is the doctor who, under the previous military dictatorship, repeatedly tortured her. The play's title is taken from the piece of music, once loved by Paulina but now reviled, that formed the musical backdrop to her torture sessions. She seizes the opportunity for retribution, taking drastic steps to regain control of her life and sanity. Death and the Maiden is a provocative blend of revenge, violence, black humor . . . and Schubert.
