Review
Omissions in Hamlet only make it better
The cast does a remarkable job with this difficult play; Stone as Hamlet is energetic and emotional, full of youthful angst and intensity. Elizabeth Chase plays Gertrude, the fickle queen, with solid innocence and restraint, as does Beth Herron as Ophelia. Visually this play is gorgeous; with spartan sets, solid lights as backdrops, no scenery, and just a few tables and banners for props, it is hard to imagine a more fitting stage arrangement. Add to this the medieval costumes by Brenda McLeese and Beth Richardson, the final fight scenes by Jean-Francois Gagnon, and you have an air of authenticity and credibility that rounds out a noteworthy production. Played with warmth and humour, Hamlet is a play to see.
