Back by popular demand, Saint John Theatre Company: Second Stage is seeking original one-act scripts by aspiring local playwrights!

We are looking for any and all kinds of plays! Comedy, drama, tragic, farce, historical, absurd, and anything in between! The sky's the limit! All of the playwrights will benefit from an invitation to a PUBLIC DRAMATIC READING of their own scripts in October and after the reading will receive an adjudication and feedback for their submitted script! This is an excellent opportunity for the playwright to hear his/her work as read by other people and receive constructive feedback on their play. Here are some of the details:

- must be submitted in either a typed or printed format, no handwritten submissions please.
- should be no more than 30 minutes in length (maximum). There is no minimum length.
- it is preferable the scripts be previously unstaged and unpublished.
- the play itself must be relatively easy to stage (i.e. no elaborate technical or set piece requirements).
- must be spell-checked and (if applicable) grammar-checked
- must be submitted in a standard, easy-to-read script format.
- there are two ways to submit your play.

And that's not all! Some of the scripts read aloud at the October readings will be selected for performance by Second Stage for an EVENING OF ORIGINAL ONE-ACT PLAYS! These have previously been positive, well-attended events within the city.

THE DEADLINE FOR SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH, 2004.

Second Stage is a division of the Saint John Theatre Company, and this announcement is open to non-members and members alike. No previous theatrical or playwriting experience is required. So get writing, and... spread the word!
