PUTTING
ON A PLAY
On Wednesday, July 28th, Saint John
Theatre Company's Second Stage will be holding three workshops in
three important areas of play production: stage management,
costuming and make-up. Each of the presenters of the workshops have
many years of experience in their particular area of production and
will be presenting information and demonstrations that are both
interesting and practical.
The Stage Management
workshop will be held by Andrea Cunningham, who has SM'd many of the
Saint John Theatre Company's mainstage shows and has gained
invaluable experience in handling shows at Imperial Theatre. If you
want to learn the ropes of stage management and specifically the
demands of SM'ing a show at Imperial, you will benefit from
attending this workshop.
The Costuming workshop
will be conducted by Brenda McLeese, who has costumed shows for the
professional stage and for many films and who has costumed, advised
on and supplied costumes for many of the SJTC's shows. If you would
like to design costumes for a show or think you would just like to
learn about this part of putting on a play, you will find Brenda's
workshop will hold a wealth of valuable and practical
information.
The Make-up workshop will be offered
by Faye Somers who has done make-up for many shows in the local area
over a long career involved in high school, community and
professional productions. Faye has taken courses in Hollywood in the
making of wigs and beards and make-up for both stage and film. This
workshop will involve information on and a demonstration of what any
actor should know: how to apply basic stage
make-up.
The workshops will be offered at the
following times:
