FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

January 12, 2004

Saint John Theatre Company's Second Stage will be holding an upcoming information session on:
SCENE DESIGN FOR THEATRE!

Over the years, the Saint John Theatre Company has staged a wide array of productions. Each play or musical has benefited from a unique and creative set that has elevated our production values to another level. Audiences from all over have consistently praised the quality and professionalism of our sets.

But have you ever wondered what elements go into designing a set from scratch? The Saint John Theatre Company: Second Stage will be conducting an informative introductory presentation on the basics of scene design for the theatre. Led by veteran set designer Brian Goodwin, the session will be held on Saturday, January 31st at 1 pm in the Saint John Theatre Company Loft, 86 Prince William Street, 4th floor. Topics that will be covered include:

- Different Theatrical/Physical Forms
- Role of the Scene Designer
- Scene design as a Visual Art
- The Role of the Design
- The Design Process
- Presentation of the Design

Second Stage is a division of the Saint John Theatre Company, and this event is open to non-members and members alike. No previous theatrical or set design experience is required. This is a fascinating way to learn more about what goes on from a creative, conceptual and visual point of view when preparing to mount a Main Stage production! Admission is free to this activity. We'll see you on January 31st at 1 pm!

PLEASE NOTE: We would like to accurately determine participation interest for this event. If you would like to participate in the Scene Design for Theatre session, we would request that you please e-mail stage@sjtconline.com with your first and last name OR phone the SJTC loft at 634-1990 and leave your name. This way, we will be able to get an estimate as to how many people will be attending. Thank you!
