Is your Dog a Ham???
Saint John Theatre Company
seeks poster dog for upcoming production of SYLVIA
Does your
dog constantly seek attention and crave the spotlight? If so, your
dog may be just the dog that the Saint John Theatre Company is
looking for to appear on the poster of its upcoming production of
Sylvia.
Sylvia, a hilarious comedy by A.R. Gurney, tells the
story of a man who brings home a stray dog to his wife. While the
playful pooch is the perfect tonic for his mid-life crisis – the dog
also becomes a major bone of contention between husband and
wife.
“We are not looking for a dog to appear on stage” says
director, Stephen Tobias. “What is unique and witty about this play
is that the dog, Sylvia, is actually played by an
actress.”
“We thought it would be fun to find a real dog to
represent Sylvia for the production poster and for a home video
which we plan to use during the production.”
Auditions for
the poster dog for Sylvia will be held:
Saturday, January
12th
Pet Corral, 1057 Fairville Boulevard
10AM - 4PM
No
appointments are necessary. The audition process will consist of a
photo of the dog and a brief interaction with the director and some
of the cast members.
“Any breed or age of dog is eligible,”
says Tobias. “We’re mostly looking for a dog that is cute, friendly,
and photogenic.”
The dog who is selected will be required for
a photo and video shoot to be used for the production poster and
during the production run. The dog will also win a dog bed and a
25lb bag of dog food from the Pet Corral and a pair of tickets to
Sylvia to give to his/ her owners!
Saint John Theatre
Company’s production of Sylvia starring Kizzy Kaye as Sylvia and
also featuring Bob Doherty and Suzy McCormick will be performed at
Imperial Theatre on February 22 & 23, 2002. Tickets are
currently available from the Imperial Theatre Box Office or by
calling 674-4100.
