Saint John Theatre Company 2001-2002 Season

The Saint John Theatre Company’s 2001-2002 season to be played at the Imperial Theatre promises to be another season of drama, laughs, romance, and adventure with a fabulous line-up of plays:

The Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett
Director Bob Doherty
November 16-17, 2001

A story of triumph and tragedy as told by a young Jewish girl who hides with her family from Nazi troops during World War II in an Amsterdam attic. This play has been awarded the Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award, Critic’s Circle Award, and virtually every other coveted prize of the theatre.

“There is so much beauty, warm humour, gentle pity… in The Diary of Anne Frank that it is difficult to imagine how this play could be contained in one set on one stage…this is a fine drama.”
- The New York News

Sylvia by A.R. Gurney
Director Stephen Tobias
February 22-23, 2002

A modern romantic comedy about a man, a woman and a dog. Greg brings home a saucy stray from Central Park and it becomes a major bone of contention for his wife Kate. A howlingly funny comedy about a dog that comes between two people.

“Delicious and dizzy... a hysterical comedy for anyone who's ever owned a dog, loved a dog, or wanted to wring a dog's neck...." - The New York Times

Cyrano de Bergerac by Edmond Rostand
Director TBA
May 10-11, 2002

Set in Louis XIII’s reign, Cyrano is the exciting romantic adventure of one of the finest swordsman in France; a gallant soldier, brilliant wit, and tragic poet-lover with an oversized nose.

“This swashbuckling romance of 17th century France, as colorful as any Renaissance story…is simply magical.” - Backstage
